Bloomington-Normal is expecting 2-4 inches of snow starting Thursday afternoon.
McLean County is under a winter weather advisory from 3 p.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute.
Parking bans are in place, with street parking restricted from 5 p.m. Thursday to 5 p.m. Friday on all streets within the Town of Normal. Residents without access to a driveway or garage may park in the parking lots at Normal parks, including Anderson, Fairview and Underwood.
In Bloomington, cars are prohibited on designated snow routes beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday. The city announced Friday morning the ban will be lifted at 9 a.m.
And the brisk start to winter continues this weekend. The weather service says another clipper system will bring accumulating snow to portions of Central Illinois on Saturday afternoon and evening, followed by bitter cold. Temps will drop below zero across much of Central Illinois both Saturday night and Sunday night with resulting wind chill values as cold as 15 to 30 below.
