After a work stoppage postponed three Bloomington Bison pro hockey games this weekend, players are set to report back to their teams with a tentative labor agreement in place.
The ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association [PHPA] announced Saturday night that the sides reached a tentative deal on a new collective bargaining agreement.
The new pact awaits ratification by the union’s ECHL membership and the league’s Board of Governors.
According to a media release, players will return to their teams in good faith and prepare to resume the season with approval of the CBA pending. The news release said additional details would be “shared at an appropriate time.”
The brief strike postponed the Bison’s scheduled road game Friday at Iowa, as well as Saturday and Sunday home games also against the Heartlanders at the city-owned Grossinger Motors Arena in downtown Bloomington.
The Bison, a Double A-level affiliate of the NHL’s New York Rangers, are 13-9-4 in their second season.
