Bloomington Police are investigating the death of a 16-year-girl who was found dead inside a Bloomington home.

The police department said in a news release officers were called to a residence on Canada Lane in West Bloomington at 10:46 a.m. Saturday for a reported cardiac arrest.

Bloomington Fire Department paramedics found a juvenile female in the home and tried unsuccessfully to revive her.

16-year-old Mariah Kletz was pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday by the McLean County Coroner’s Office.

Unit 5 spokesperson Dayna Brown confirmed Kletz was a student at Normal West and said the school will provide resources to students and staff who need additional support.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation suggests there is no threat to the public.

The girl’s death is under investigation by Bloomington Police and the McLean County Coroner’s Office.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to call Bloomington Police detective Ryan Strebing at (309) 434-2537 or rstrebing@cityblm.org.
