Connect Transit’s board of trustees has named a nine-year veteran of the Bloomington-Normal transit system as its new chief executive officer.
Brady Lange had been serving as active director since December, following David Braun’s resignation that came after a leave of absence.
Lange steps into the role as Connect Transit finishes the planning stages and begins construction on a new $28 million bus transfer center in Downtown Bloomington, a project that’s been in the works for more than a decade.
Connect Transit board chair Julie Hile said Lange also will oversee the transit agency’s other capital projects and planned service improvements.
“Brady Lange offers us proven leadership and the ability to bring complex projects to on-time completion. We are excited about his vision for integrated regional mobility,” Hile said in a statement. “Add to that Brady being a Normal native and a lifelong fan of our community, and we all have much to look forward to.”
Lange was one of two finalists who interviewed for the job, chosen from among 13 applicants that a search firm screened, according to documents presented to the board ahead of Tuesday's regular meeting. Five of the applicants were forwarded to the Connect Transit board for consideration.
Lange joined Connect Transit in 2017 as a maintenance manager. He was named deputy managing director in 2024.
Lange's annual salary will be $175,000, along with 15% base pay going toward a retirement benefit.
