Tim Tebow became the first underclassman at the University of Florida to win the Heisman Trophy, college football's most prestigious individual award. He also helped lead the Florida Gators to two NCAA national championships during his collegiate career.

Motivational speaker, entrepreneur, college football analyst and author of seven New York Times bestsellers Tim Tebow will make a stop in the Twin Cities this fall.

The American Red Cross will host its 31st annual Evening of Stars event Sept. 9 at the Bone Student Center at Illinois State University. Tebow will serve as the event's keynote speaker.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Tim Tebow as the special guest for our 31st annual Evening of Stars,” said Lyn Hruska, executive director of the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Evening of Stars is the largest annual fundraiser for the chapter. Proceeds from the event support families across Central Illinois through services such as disaster response, blood donation programs, training services and support for military members and their families.

Tebow, once known for his accomplishments on the football field, has since founded the Tim Tebow Foundation, a nonprofit, ministry-based organization that combats human trafficking and child exploitation while providing foster care for children and services for people with profound medical needs.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Tebow was a standout in college athletics.

He became the first underclassman at the University of Florida to win the Heisman Trophy, college football's most prestigious individual award. He also helped lead the Florida Gators to two NCAA national championships during his collegiate career.

Known as a dual-threat quarterback, Tebow became the first player in Division I history to pass for at least 20 touchdowns and rush for at least 20 touchdowns in a single season. He also holds school and conference records, including marks for combined passing and rushing touchdowns in a season and rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

Following his collegiate career, Tebow played three seasons in the NFL, primarily for the Denver Broncos, and had a stint in minor league baseball. He has since focused on faith-based initiatives, humanitarian work, advocacy and entrepreneurship. He also serves as a college football analyst for ESPN and the SEC Network.

General admission tickets are $200, on sale now at redcross.org.
