Police have made an arrest following a shooting late Thursday that seriously injured a man in Normal.
It happened around 11:50 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of North Golfcrest Road in Normal, police said. That's a neighborhood with many apartment buildings just south of Raab Road.
The victim was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition, police said. He had two bullets lodged in his body, prosecutors said Saturday.
Police on Friday afternoon announced the arrest of Maurice Delaney, 44, of Normal. He faces preliminary charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and no valid FOID card.
Prosecutors say the two men argued Thursday about Delaney's arrest the day before on suspicion of driving under the influence, and the argument turned violent. Police located the defendant with the help of license plate camera readers, prosecutors said.
"Based on the information gathered thus far, investigators believe this was an isolated incident in which the victim and suspect are known to one another. There is no information currently to indicate an ongoing threat to the public," Normal Police said.
