The McLean County Sheriff’s Office says officers will conduct targeted traffic details to focus on speeding, reckless driving and other dangerous driving behaviors around Lake Bloomington.

The McLean County Sheriff's Office has announced plans to increase patrols around Lake Bloomington to address what the department calls numerous complaints about excessive speeding in the area.

“Apparently, some drivers have mistaken the roads around the lake for their own personal racetrack,” the department said in a social media post. “Slow down. Drive responsibly. Enjoy the lake.”

The sheriff’s office said officers will conduct targeted traffic details in the area to focus on speeding, reckless driving and other dangerous driving behaviors.

Lake Bloomington is about 15 miles north of Bloomington-Normal in Hudson Township.
