Brandon Knapp faces two counts of grooming involving alleged inappropriate behavior with a student at Chiddix Junior High. He has been detained in McLean County jail since his arrest in April.

The first of two Chiddix Junior High teachers charged with misconduct with minors appears set to take a plea deal.

Prosecutors said they've reached a tentative agreement with Brandon Knapp, 44, during a hearing Thursday in McLean County court. That's after a previously scheduled trial date was taken off the calendar.

Assistant State's Attorney Aaron Fredrick requested two weeks to ensure the victim who accused Knapp of various grooming behaviors agrees to the deal. Details of the tentative deal were not shared during Thursday's hearing.

Knapp is due back in court Nov. 20.

Another teacher who worked at the middle school in Normal, Andrew Miller, was arrested less than a month after Knapp and is charged with 56 felony counts ranging from grooming and solicitation to possession of child sexual materials. The two men have been detained in McLean County jail since their arrests.

Miller's next pretrial hearing is Dec. 2. He has pleaded not guilty on all charges.
