The job of Heartland Community College president appears to be a hot commodity.

The college says it has 50 candidates who have applied to replace Rob Widmer. Widmer has served as president since 2013 and is retiring at the end of June. He has served in Illinois higher education for over 40 years and was at Heartland for more than 20 years.

Finalists will visit the campus in late February and early March. The new president takes over in July.
