Heartland Community College is looking to find its next president.

Heartland Community College has narrowed down its list of candidates to be the next president—from 50 down to four.

Melinda Tejada, vice president of student development at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, will be the first of four finalists who will visit the Normal campus over the next few weeks. Tejada will be on campus Thursday and Friday for meetings with employees and the public.

The names of the other three finalists won't be released until just before their visits, each over a two-day period between now and March 6. Information about those sessions are posted online.

Fifty people applied for the Heartland presidency. Current President Rob Widmer plans to retire in June, with the new president taking over in July.

Meanwhile, the Heartland board of trustees will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. The board is expected to set tuition and fee rates for next year, among other business.
