Stuff The Bus runs Monday, Nov. 26, through Saturday, Dec. 1.

Children’s Home and Aid along with Connect Transit and various community organizations kick off the 16th annual Stuff The Bus event next week.

Jeannie Higdon, family support clinical supervisor at Children’s Home and Aid, said Stuff the Bus donations benefit the Crisis Nursery, which provides families in need with childcare essentials.

“This event is what supplies the nursery with diapers, formula, and needed supplies for the entire year,” she said.

Higdon said residents can donate anything else a child from birth to age 7 would need, including nonperishable food.

“When kids come to the Crisis Nursery, we provide everything for them,” Higdon said. “They don’t need to bring anything with them. If their families are fleeing some state of crisis, or they are experiencing a state of crisis, it’s hard to think of gathering all of those things together. So when they come to visit us, we have everything and we provide everything they need.”

The Connect Transit bus will travel around Bloomington-Normal next week accepting donations.

It kicks off Monday at the Walmart on Greenbriar Drive in Normal.
