Illinois State Police made its second substantial cocaine seizure in McLean County in one week.
A District 6 trooper stopped a car on Interstate 74 near Carlock for a traffic violation Wednesday. The trooper noted possible signs of criminal activity during the stop, and a search of the car revealed over 12 pounds of vacuum sealed bricks of cocaine.
The 60-year-old driver, Carlos Borge of Utah, was arrested for alleged controlled substance trafficking, delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance. He is being held in McLean County Jail on $200,000 bond.
The street value of the drugs seized is estimated at $500,000.
Earlier this week Illinois State Police made what is considered the third largest cocaine bust in the county's history. Troopers stopped a semi-truck on Interstate 55 and found 110 pounds of cocaine. Drivers said they were transporting the drugs from California to Chicago.
