The Multicultural Leadership Program named Bloomington City Council member Julie Emig as its new executive director.
Emig is a graduate from the leadership program. She replaces its five-year leader Linda Bollivar, who is moving on to a position at Illinois State University.
"I learned a lot about servant leadership and the importance of building strength in diversity during my MCLP experiences," Emig said in a statement. "I began to recognize the facets of leadership that I had never before considered."
The MCLP is a nine-month program teaching leadership skills with goals to create a thriving, inclusive world.
"We are looking forward to working with Julie (Emig), an accomplished educational and community leader, to enhance out program and our presence in McLean County," wrote MCLP board chair Barbara Taft.
The 2020 MCLP class starts training next month.
