State Farm has announced plans to open a new interactive museum to chronicle the company’s near 100-year history.
The State Farm Good Neighbor Center is scheduled to open at its corporate headquarters in early 2020. It will be open to the general public during special events.
Many of the items were housed in State Farm’s former headquarters in downtown Bloomington, which a developer has announced plans to renovate into 230 luxury apartments.
The company said in a statement the museum will include seven neighborhoods, “highlighting stories of the past, present and future of State Farm, our associates and our connection to the community.”
The museum will include the Our Founder Neighborhood, a reconstruction of founder G.J. Mecherle’s third suite that will include original artifacts.
It will also feature Mecherle’s second office which includes a conference room and board table which every original leader from Mecehrle to Ed Rust Sr. had used.
The company said it will taking some historical items on trips to other State Farm facilities, “allowing agents and employees across the country to share in our history and the State Farm story.”
