IWU Esports Claims League Of Legends Title

Callum Fletcher
Illinois Wesleyan University
Callum Fletcher led Illinois Wesleyan's esports team to a League of Legands championship in Irvine, California.

Illinois Wesleyan’s esports program has captured the championship in a national tournament in the program’s second season.
IWU defeated Columbia College in a best-of-three series in the League of Legends UCI Best Coast Invitational championship on Thursday in Irvine, California.

“I'm really happy with how our team has been performing this year,” said Wesleyan coach Callum Fletcher. “Columbia College demonstrated why they're one of the best teams in the country this weekend. We've been confident that we deserve a seat at that table, and I think this win confirmed that for us.”

IWU entered the tournament as the No. 15 of 16 seeds but knocked off the top four seeds en route to the championship.

Wesleyan plans to expand its esports program next year by sponsoring a varsity Fortnite team.
