A Bloomington man faces 16 years and eight months in prison for his role in a crack cocaine trafficking conspiracy.
U.S. District Judge James Shadid sentenced Raymone Stephens, 31, on a litany of charges tied to the conspiracy. Stephens pleaded guilty in September.
He’s been in the custody of U.S. Marshals since his arrest in November 2018. He’s one of five defendants charged in the conspiracy. Three others were convicted in McLean County court, and co-defendant Khalil Hood faces sentencing on Jan. 31.
Federal prosecutors say officers recovered more than 300 grams of cocaine, four handguns, a pistol-grip shotgun, and a bulletproof vest.
Bloomington Police said at the time of the arrests it was one of the most active drug rings in the city.
BPD's Special Weapons and Tactics Team assisted in the investigation along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Marshals Task Force and Illinois State Police Tactical Response Team.
