More than 200 people attended a vigil in ISU's Schroeder Hall on Nov. 2, 2018 in response to a temple shooting in Pittsburgh.

The response to violence that has rocked places of worship across the country is the topic of a forum later this month in Normal.
Epiphany Catholic Church, 1000 E. College Ave, Normal, will host the event March 20 from 12:30-4:30 p.m.

The discussion of religious hate crimes will include prevention and responses that may be used to stop active shooters. A panel of federal, local and state officials will offer ideas on ways to secure and protect houses of worship.

Participants may register online.

The McLean County state’s attorney’s office, Bloomington and Normal police departments, and the McLean County sheriff’s department, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice, are sponsors of the event.

Similar events have been held in several other central Illinois cities.
