The Ovation Cinema Grill in Bloomington has permanently closed.

A place to go for dinner and a movie in Bloomington is no longer.
The Ovation Cinema Grill at 415 Detroit Drive in southeast Bloomington closed at the start of the pandemic in March and will not reopen.

Tom Anderson, environmental health director at the McLean County Health Department, said the theater’s corporate office notified the health department this week that Ovation Cinema has closed permanently after the parent company, New Vision Theatres, filed for bankruptcy.

Efforts to reach the corporate offices were unsuccessful on Friday.

The theater, which opened in 1999, was renovated in 2015 to include a full-size kitchen and bar.
