The local COVID-19 testing positivity rate dipped to 2.4% Wednesday, with the McLean County Health Department (MCHD) reporting three new confirmed cases.
Daily caseloads have been in the single digits four days in the last week. It’s the first time that figure has dipped below 10 since mid-August, after college students returned to Bloomington-Normal for the fall semester.
The number of hospitalized patients held at nine, with one person moved to intensive care overnight. Five more patients are now considered recovered, according to MCHD data.
The county’s active caseload is now 185.
Illinois State University confirmed three new cases among students, raising its total to 1,353 since the start of the semester. There are now 19 active cases on campus, according to data from ISU’s COVID-19 dashboard.
The university’s testing positivity (7-day rolling) is at 1.6%. Quarantine and isolation bed use is now at 3%, down from 4% last week.
Meanwhile, Illinois Wesleyan University reported one new confirmed case on Tuesday, bringing the school's total to 117 since the start of the semester. The university currently has 16 active cases and a testing positivity rate (7-day rolling) of 0.86%.
