Political parties held caucuses Tuesday to slate candidates for township races.

Sarah Grammer is seeking a second term as Normal Township supervisor as the Democratic party seeks to maintain power the party seized four years ago after decades of Republican control.
Parties held caucuses Tuesday to choose candidates to run for township offices in the April 2021 election.

Democrats tabbed Grammer for the supervisor role. She narrowly defeated Republican Cheryl Gaines for the office in 2017.

Republicans nominated Amy Conklin to challenge Grammer, according to McLean County GOP Chair Connie Beard. Conklin was elected township clerk in 2017.

Each of the four incumbent trustees -- Democrats Arlene Hosea, Sally Pyne and Dayna Schickendanz and Republican Ray Ropp -- will be on the ballot, along with challengers Floyd Aper (R), Carl Hany (R), Art Rodriguez, (R) and Mary Whurmann (D).

For township clerk, Republican Judy Hanks will face Democrat Pat Turner.

Arin Rader (R) is seeking re-election as township highway commissioner and Robert Cranston is seeking reelection as township assessor. Democrats did not slate candidates for those offices.

The municipal election will be held April 6.
