McLean County’s COVID-19 testing positivity rate continued to tick upward, to 13.8% on Thursday, as health officials reported 136 new confirmed cases.
That’s the highest the testing positivity rate has been since mid-November, when it peaked at 14.9%.
There are currently 17 people from McLean County hospitalized with COVID-19, one more than Wednesday. The county’s hospital bed capacity improved over the last 24 hours. Intensive care bed use dropped from 96% to 81%. Currently, 7% of all hospital beds are open—more than double Wednesday's capacity.
The death toll stands at 58. There are 1,281 people isolating at home. Fifteen more people are now considered recovered.
Currently, there are 19 active cases reported at Illinois State University, where the testing positivity rate sits at 3.9%, based on 389 tests conducted in the past week. Just 1% of the university’s on-campus quarantine beds are in use.
