4 More Nursing Home Residents Die From COVID-19 In McLean County

The Villas of Hollybrook Fox Creek in Bloomington has seen 40 positive COVID cases and four deaths in the last month.

McLean County health officials on Tuesday reported four more COVID-19 related deaths. The three women in their 80s and man in his 90s were all residents of long-term care facilities.

The McLean County death toll is now 62 since the start of the pandemic. Twelve of those deaths have come since the start of the month. October was the deadliest month so far, with 15 coronavirus-related deaths.

The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) reported 108 new confirmed cases on Tuesday. Those positive results were found from a batch of about 900 tests returned in the past 24 hours.

Currently, there are 15 people from McLean County hospitalized with COVID. The county’s intensive care unit capacity held at 77% of beds in use. Total beds available fell to 9%, down from 12% on Monday.

The county’s testing positivity rate ticked up slightly to 9.4%.

Long-term care outbreaks

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports active outbreaks at 10 McLean County long-term care facilities. Arcadia Care Bloomington has the highest caseload, with 54 positives in the last 28 days. That’s up from six cases reported two weeks ago.

The Villas of Hollybrook Fox Creek has seen 40 positive cases and four deaths in the last month. Heritage Health of Normal also has had 40 cases in the same period, while Westminster Village has reported 24 and the McLean County Nursing Home has seen 18 cases. The Loft Rehabilitation reported 17 cases and one death.

The other facilities with open outbreaks are Luther Oaks, Heritage Health Bloomington, Evergreen Village and Bloomington Rehab. Their caseloads are all in the single digits.
