James Mack, 51, of Bloomington was arrested Friday on domestic battery charges.

Prosecutors said Mack was having an argument with a person who is a minor on the morning of Dec. 11. Mack allegedly pushed the person off a chair at the kitchen table, causing the minor to fall to the floor.

Court records do not indicate any injuries.

Mack was booked on a charge of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. He posted $150 bond on Saturday and was released from the McLean County Jail, according to jail records.

A judge ordered that Mack have no contact with the person, or go to the residence. His inital court appearance was scheduled for Dec. 29.

The city hired Mack in January 2018 to manage the downtown Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts. At the time, Mack was managing director and facility director for the Mesquite Arts Council in Mesquite, Texas. He also was working on his master’s degree in non-profit administration at the University of Notre Dame.

Mack has not responded to multiple requests for comment. City communications and external affairs manager Nora Dukowitz said the city doesn't comment on personnel issues.

Mack is still listed on the BCPA and Grossinger Motors Arena websites. The city took over management of the arena in June after the city ended its five-year agreement with VenuWorks.
