UPDATED 9 p.m. | About 2,400 customers in McLean County were still without power late Sunday after Mother Nature piled on some snow atop the New Year's Day ice storm.

There were more than 1,300 Ameren customers in McLean County without power as of 9 p.m. Sunday. That's about 2.2% of all Ameren customers here.

There were 1,114 Corn Belt Energy customers in McLean County without power as of 9 p.m. Sunday. That's about 4.7% of Corn Belt customers here.

Corn Belt crews were encountering a quarter-inch or more of ice on lines being repaired.

“Initially, the outages were localized in the western portion of our service area and now are surfacing in all areas of our service territory,” said Steve Hancock, vice president of electric distribution at Corn Belt.

The Bloomington Fire Department extinguished a house fire in the 600 block of Emerson Street early Sunday. It was caused by a live power line knocked down by a fallen tree. No one was injured, and the homeowner was able to stay in the home.

"Remember to assume all downed lines are live and to report them to our city dispatch," the fire department said on Facebook.

The McLean County Emergency Management Agency shared a list of warming centers available in the area.

Constitution Trail Closed

Portions of Constitution Trail south of Camelback Bridge were closed Sunday as Normal Parks and Rec crews worked to clean up heavy tree damage and downed power lines.

Citizens were asked to avoid using the trail. Cleanup will "take some time due to extensive damage," the Town of Normal said.

In Bloomington, snowplow crews on Sunday were making one pass through all streets. They will not run curb-to-curb due to low hanging trees and power lines.

"We are sending loaders to assist with damage to open up roads," the City of Bloomington said midday Sunday. "Our goal by the end of the night is to have all trees and brush pushed to the curb and begin cleanup (Monday)."

Town of Normal public works crews will pick up tree limbs and debris placed curbside.
