Bloomington-Normal's public transit agency is seeking public input on its search for a new general manager.Connect Transit has an online survey that asks several questions, including what are the biggest challenges and opportunities a new manager will face in the first year on the job.
“The hiring of a general manager is one of the most important decisions the board will make,” said Connect Transit Board Chairman Ryan Whitehouse. “Therefore, all of us feel it is essential we hear from transit system stakeholders so we gain a clear understanding of the community’s expectations with respect to this important leadership position.”
Connect Transit has had two interim GMs since Isaac Thorne announced in July he was leaving for a transit job in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mark Peterson, former Town of Normal city manager, is currently handling GM duties. Former interim GM Martin Glaze left in October to take a position in Houston.
Meanwhile, Connect Transit continues to study site locations for a new transfer center. Its buses have been free to all riders since March due to the pandemic and will remain free at least through winter.
The survey can be found at connect-transit.com.
