Bloomington residents will need to re-enroll for online bill bay after the city moves to a new system on March 23.

The City of Bloomington plans to temporarily shut down its online payment and billing system starting Friday as it moves to a new system that will require residents to reset their online payments. The city said on its website that online bills for water, sewer and trash service won’t be processed from 4:30 p.m. March 12 through March 22.

Residents who have an auto-payment scheduled after March 12 will need to process a one-time payment, the statement from the city said. Instructions will be on the city of Bloomington website

The city said it will not assess any late fees through the end of April, as “billing cycle timing may also fluctuate during the transition.”

All city account numbers will change. The city said new bills will be issued starting the week of March 29. The city said all customers who use online billing will have to re-enroll and automatic payments will have to be reset, but residents won’t be able to reset payments until after the conversion goes live on March 23.

City officials said the new billing system will be more user-friendly, but it will no longer have online billing history available for residents. City staff recommends customers print their past billing history before the transition if they want to keep a billing history for their records.

The city said residents can get their new account number by calling city offices starting March 23 at (309) 434-2426, or waiting until their new bill arrives.
