Gov. Rauner Spotted In B-N On St. Patrick's Day

Three days before the primary election, Gov. Bruce Rauner made an unannounced St. Patrick's Day visit to Bloomington-Normal.

The Republican governor was spotted meeting with campaign volunteers and walking through Uptown Normal on Saturday. Rauner's team didn't alerted media he was visiting.

Rauner stopped by his "Bloomington-Normal field office" around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, according to his Twitter account. McLean County Republican Party chair Chuck Erickson was also there.

Shortly before that, Rauner was seen walking through Uptown Normal with state Sen. Bill Brady, R-Bloomington, around the time of the Sharin of the Green parade.

Several St. Patrick's Day revelers also reported seeing Rauner at Maggie Miley's, a popular Irish pub and restaurant in Uptown Normal.

Rauner faces state Rep. Jeanne Ives in the Republican primary Tuesday.
