Bustos Voices Support For Londrigan During ISU Visit

U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos stopped in Bloomington-Normal on Monday to voice her support for fellow Democrat Betsy Dirksen Londrigan in the 13th Congressional District.

Bustos said her fellow Democrat is “simply the better candidate” over incumbent Republican Rodney Davis.

“She cares deeply about making sure that people have affordable healthcare," Bustos said. "She cares about the issues that families need somebody to fight for them on, if they just want to get ahead in their lives, look out for their kids, make a decent living."

Illinois District 17 Congresswoman Cheri Bustos.

Bustos said should Londrigan be elected over Davis, Democrats will have a voice in Central Illinois. Davis has held the seat since 2013.

“I’m also lonely as a downstate Democrat in the Illinois congressional delegation, because I’m the only one outside of Chicagoland,” Bustos said. “So I’m hoping very very much that Betsy is successful here in the next eight days.”

Should Londrigan win, her and Bustos would be the only two Illinois congressional Democrats outside of Chicagoland. Bustos represents the 17th District, encompassing the far northwest part of Illinois.

The election is Nov. 6.

GLT will hosts a candidate forum between Davis and Londrigan Monday night. Listen or watch on Facebook Live tonight at 6 p.m.
