Former Illinois State University President Al Bowman has been chosen to serve on an advistory panel that will assist the McLean County Board in its search for its next county administrator.

McLean County Board Chairman John McIntyre said Friday he has formed what he’s calling a blue ribbon stakeholder advisory panel to assist the County Board in its search for a new administrator.

Bill Wasson has announced he’s retiring in June after serving as county administrator since 2010. He has worked for the county for 35 years.

Several County Board members, led by Laurie Wollrab, requested the county hire a consulting firm to guide the search.

Retired McLean County Administrator John Zeunik will lead the voluntary panel. It will also include:

  • Retired McLean County Administrator Terry Lindberg
  • Executive Director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education and retired Illinois State University President Al Bowman
  • Retired Eleventh Circuit Chief Judge and current Chairman of the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority Elizabeth Robb
  • State Farm Vice President of Operations Kevin Callis
  • Retired County Financial Executive Vice President of Communications and Human Resources Deanna Frautschi
  • Unit 5 Superintendent Mark Daniel

“The committee will help the McLean County Board Search Committee with the nationwide search to find a highly qualified and talented pool of candidates for the county administrator position," said McIntyre. “I was delighted to receive the support and assistance of such a diverse and respected group of community leaders with this search process. Each member of the Blue-Ribbon Stakeholder Advisory Panel brings a high-level of experience in management and an understanding of the executive hiring process.”
The county set a Feb. 10 application deadline. County officials have said they hope to have a candidate chosen by May.
