McLean County Board Chairman John McIntrye said a blue ribbon panel has recommended six candidates for the county to consider for its county administrator post.
Bill Wasson announced in November he was retiring after eight years as its administrator. He is leaving June 1.
“I feel very good about what they did,” McIntyre said of the six-member panel of community leaders and stakeholders. “They worked hard and they set up a system that evaluated, had criteria and they all reviewed (the applications) independently and then collaborated and reviewed some more.”
He said the county received “several dozen” applicants for the job.
McIntrye said the county’s search committee, which is made up of the County Board’s seven committee chairs, is scheduled to conduct phone interviews in closed session with five of the candidates on Wednesday and Thursday.
McIntyre said a sixth candidate withdrew from consideration. He did not say how many of the candidates are internal.
The chairman said the search committee will forward recommendations to the County Board’s Executive Committee which will select finalists for in-person interviews to be conducted in April.
He added the county plans to release the names of those finalists and that all County Board members are welcome to participate in the interviews.
The Executive Committee will select a candidate for nomination to the full County Board.
McIntyre said the county is still on track to have someone chosen by May.
