7th Nursing Home Resident Dies With COVID-19

The Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center has seen 30 residents and 18 employees contract COVID-19. It's the worst outbreak in McLean County to date.

A 10th person has died after contracting COVID-19 in McLean County, public health officials reported Saturday.

The person was a man in his 80s. He was a resident of Bloomington Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, where now seven residents have died. That nursing home has seen 30 residents and 18 employees contract COVID-19—the worst outbreak in McLean County to date.

Six new confirmed cases were reported Saturday by the McLean County Health Department. The county's total is now 202 people. Of those, 61 are isolating at home. Four are hospitalized. The rest (127 people) have already recovered.

People in their 20s continue to be the most impacted age group in McLean County. One in 5 cases have been people in their 20s, according to health department data.

Meanwhile, the Bloomington drive-thru testing site at the Interstate Center opened Saturday under new management.

It's now run by Pekin-based Reditus Labs. Anyone can be tested there, with no symptoms needed. It's open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but closed on holidays.
