After Damp Spring, Central Illinois Suffers Dry Spell

Above-normal temperatures and spotty rainfall are contributing to abnormally dry conditions in portions of central and western Illinois. 

Peoria County and portions of Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, Stark and Fulton counties are included in the U.S. Drought Monitor’s weekly summary. 

“Abnormally dry” is the lowest of six intensity levels used to measure drought across the United States. The summer dry spell comes after one of the wettest springs on record.
