Body Identified As Missing Man From Normal

Alexander Goldman of Normal was last seen July 31 and reported missing Aug. 3. Normal Police said at that time that Goldman "may be in distress."

A 52-year-old man who was missing for more than two weeks has been identified as the body found in a wooded area in north Normal, authorities said Wednesday.

There is no preliminary evidence of foul play in Alexander Goldman's death, authorities said. A cause of death and toxicology results are pending.

Goldman, of Normal, was last seen July 31 and reported missing Aug. 3. Normal Police said at that time that Goldman "may be in distress."

Goldman's photo was widely circulated on social media in the weeks since. His body was found Tuesday in the wooded area near Greenbriar Drive and Hershey Road.

"The Normal Police Department would like to thank all the friends, co-workers, and agencies that participated in the extensive search for Alexander Goldman during the past two weeks," the police department said in a statement Wednesday.

The police and McLean County Coroner's office continue to investigate Goldman's death.
