Bartonville Police Chief Brian Fengel is retiring after 29 years with the village of Bartonville.
Fengel spent 21 of thos years as chief of the police department. He has been appointed as the new director of the Central Illinois Police Training Center at Illinois Central College.
Fengel is also past president of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, and has served on several state law enforcement task forces.
Fengel ran for Peoria County Sheriff as a Democrat in 2018, losing to Republican incumbent Brian Asbell.
A new Bartonville police chief hasn't yet been announced.
