McLean County added 212 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend—the highest weekend case count reported since mid-January.
Data from the McLean County Health Department (MCHD) show the new cases were found in a batch of about 3,300 test results returned over the weekend. The county’s testing positivity rate held steady at 5.3%.
The number of county residents hospitalized with COVID dropped by one since Friday—down to 53 patients. The county’s record for hospitalizations is 54.
Intensive care bed use remains at 81%. Overall, Bloomington-Normal hospital bed capacity improved. About 11% of all beds are open. That marks the first time this month that hospital capacity reached double digits.
McLean County’s active caseload also is down. There are currently 636 residents isolating at home. An additional 221 people are now considered recovered.
No new deaths were reported. The death toll stands at 214.
Just over 106,000 doses of the COVID vaccine have been administered in McLean County. More than 45,000 residents are now fully vaccinated. That’s more than 26% of the population—on par with the statewide average.
The county is averaging 1,800 vaccine doses administered daily over the past week, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
