A former Washington Community High School coach was arrested Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenager.

Washington Police Chief Mike McCoy said Hayley Reneau, 23, of Washington was arrested on one felony count of criminal sexual assault of a teenager older than 13 but younger than 18 who was under her responsibility.

Washington Community High School District 308 superintendent Dr. Kyle Freeman said Reneau was having an inappropriate relationship with a high school student.

She resigned from her job on July 29. Freeman said she will not return to the school.

The Department of Children and Family Services was contacted. Freeman says he has no reason to believe other students were involved.

Reneau graduated from Eureka College in 2018. She also played for their women's basketball team. She coached girls' basketball and volleyball at WCHS.
