A familiar face at the Community Health Care Clinic will soon become its new executive director.

Mike Romagnoli will take over for Angie McLaughlin, who is leaving the Normal clinic on Friday to start a new job as practice administrator at Medical Hills Internists in Bloomington. Romagnoli started volunteering at the clinic 14 years ago and has worked in several positions there. He’s now the operations manager.

“I’m grateful for Angie’s mentorship over the last eight years, which helped me prepare for this new role at the clinic,” Romagnoli said in a statement. “I’m inheriting a fantastic and hardworking staff, a very engaged board of directors, and a beautiful new building. I’m committed to building on Angie’s great work advancing the clinic’s mission and providing the best care possible to our patients.”

Romagnoli earned his master’s in Spanish from Illinois State University. He first volunteered at the clinic as a Spanish interpreter while attending ISU.

“While I am sad to leave the clinic that I love after eight years, I know it is in good hands with the staff and board who go above and beyond every single day,” McLaughlin said. “The clinic is on very solid footing, and I'm confident that the transition over the coming weeks will help lead the clinic to a bigger and brighter future.”

The clinic on Franklin Avenue provides free medical care, prescription medications and education services to over 1,000 uninsured and underinsured McLean County residents each year.
