Five Tri-County Residents Die From COVID-19 Over Weekend

Five residents from Peoria and Tazewell counties died this weekend from COVID-19.

Over the weekend, two Peoria County residents and three Tazewell County residents passed away after suffering from COVID-19.

A Peoria County man in his 90s, living at Apostolic Christian Skylines, and a woman in her 60s not at a long-term care facility died, said health officials. A Tazewell County man in his 60s, and a Tazewell County woman in her 30s, both not residing in long-term care facilities, also died. A woman in her 70s living at Aperion Morton Villa also passed away.

There are 2,954 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Peoria County; 1,397 in Tazewell, and 361 in Woodford, for a total of 4,712 in the Tri-County region since local health departments began recording numbers in March. Sixty-one people are currently hospitalized, including 18 in the ICU.

Tazewell County also is currently at a state warning level for coronavirus. Nearby McLean and Stark counties also are at warning levels.
