Linda Daley was selected Wednesday to fill the vacancy on the Peoria County Board left by the death of Dr. Greg Adamson.

Like Adamson, Daley is a Republican. She served as the legislative aide for former state Rep. Dave Leitch (R-Peoria) for 28 years, and became state Rep. Ryan Spain (R-Peoria)'s chief of staff when he later filled Leitch's seat.

“I look forward to working with Linda,” says Peoria County Board Chairman Andrew Rand in a statement. “She brings a breadth of knowledge and experience from her time with Representative Leitch and now Representative Spain.  Linda’s relationships in the community will further enhance our collective board knowledge.”

“While the circumstances of the vacancy remain incredibly sad, I am humbled and honored by Chairman Rand’s confidence in nominating me. If confirmed by the Board, I will work with the other members and do my best to contribute to what is already a high performing organization,” said Daley in a statement.

Adamson died on June 11. His term was set to expire in December 2020.

District 11 covers much of North Peoria.
