The McLean County Health Department on Monday reported 263 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, as the county’s testing positivity rate dropped to 9.3%.

It’s the first time in a week the positivity rate fell into the single digits. McLean County’s rate is below state (14.7%) and national (10.4%) averages.

Hospital capacity has improved since Friday. There are 17 people from McLean County hospitalized with COVID-19. That’s down from 20 ahead of the weekend. Intensive care capacity improved, to 77% of beds in use. Currently, 12% of all hospital beds are available.

Another 1,246 people are isolating at home, bringing the active caseload to 1,263. An additional 212 people are now considered recovered.

The death toll stands at 58.

In order for Tier 3 mitigations to be relaxed, a region must have a testing positivity rate below 12% for three consecutive days. Also, at least 20% of intensive care and medical beds must be available for three consecutive days. Plus, the number of COVID-19 patients in the hospital must decline seven out of the last 10 days.

Region 2, which includes McLean County, had a testing positivity rate of 13.8% as of Friday. Only 14% of intensive care beds were available.
