9-1-1 service remains out in McLean County and county officials don't know when it will be restored.

UPDATED 9:10 p.m. | Emergency 911 service has been restored.

Previous story: Emergency 911 telephone service remains out in McLean County and county officials don't know when it will be restored.

GIS addressing technician with the county's Emergency Telephone Systems Board Brandon Lacey said it's a problem with Frontier Communications' phone lines.

“We know that there’s issue with static on the lines, that we’re not getting the information needed to be able to properly use 911 and callers are not able to be heard,” Lacey said.

Lacey said the problem was discovered at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, then after Frontier reported it was fixed, the problem reappeared Wednesday morning.

“It’s going to be them fixing the equipment as fast as possible and make sure it’s reliably fixed,” Lacey said.

Until repairs are made, anyone with an emergency in Bloomington should call the city's dispatch center at (309) 820-8888. For residents in Normal and the rest of the county, they should call Metcom is (309) 888-5030.
