McLean County ICU Beds Still Near Capacity; 2 COVID-19 Deaths Added

Two new deaths linked to COVID-19 in McLean County bring the death toll to 88, while the county’s hospitals still report 96% of intensive care beds in use.

That percentage is unchanged from Dec. 23, as is the 89% total usage of all hospital beds in the county. Currently, 78 hospitalized individuals are being treated for coronavirus, including 29 McLean County residents.  

The most recent fatalities are one man and one woman, both in their 80s and both living at long-term care facilities.

On Monday, the McLean County Health Department reported 404 new cases of COVID-19 since last Wednesday, bringing the total number of probable and confirmed infections to 11,271. The county has 1,018 individuals in home isolation, while 10,136 people are considered recovered.

The rolling seven-day testing positivity rate through Sunday held steady at 7.2%, a mark reached Wednesday and representing the lowest figure since Nov. 4. The cumulative positivity rate is 6.5% out of more than 174,500 test results.
