The McLean County Health Department is reporting 321 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and one death over the weekend, as the county’s testing positivity fell to 8.3%--the first time in more than a week the rate has been in the single digits.
The county’s 49th coronavirus-related death is a woman in her 90s who lived in a long-term care facility. To date, nearly half of McLean County COVID deaths have been associated with nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
There are currently 17 COVID patients hospitalized, up two from Friday. Another 1,417 people are isolating at home. Hospital bed capacity has improved from Friday: 84% of intensive care unit beds and 86% of total hospital beds are now in use.
Data from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reflects new outbreaks at Bloomington Rehab, which confirmed two new COVID-19 cases in the past month, and four new cases at the McLean County Nursing Home. Bloomington Rehab accounted for 59 coronavirus cases and 11 deaths during previous outbreaks, while the county-run nursing home saw five confirmed cases in its last outbreak.
IDPH also reports six confirmed cases at Arcadia Care Bloomington. It’s the first outbreak logged at that facility.
In the past five days, IDPH also logged one additional COVID-related death and eight new cases at Heritage Health of Normal, where an outbreak already was active. Villas of Holly Brook reported one new death and two additional cases in the same period. The number of cases at Luther Oakes doubled from two to four.
Eleven long-term care facilities in McLean County are now considered to have open outbreaks, by state measures.
