The Supreme Court announced two major decisions this week. On Monday, it ruled that the 1964 Civil Rights Act protects gay, lesbian, and transgender employees from discrimination based on sex. Then on Thursday, the court decided that the Trump administration may not immediately proceed with its plan to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that protects about 700,000 immigrants.

Senate Republicans released a plan on Wednesday to reform police departments. The GOP bill differs from an earlier bill introduced by House Democrats in several key ways, including the omission of ending qualified immunity.

The Justice Department isseeking an emergency court order to block the publication of former national security adviser John Bolton’s forthcoming White House memoir.
