UPDATE 3 p.m. Monday | 19-year-old Tyrhon Erving, 19, of Peoria was the victim in Saturday night's fatal shooting at the Hollow Creek Apartments.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Erving suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body, and likely died instantly.
Peoria police arrested three men in connection for first degree murder and armed robbery in connection with the shooting.
UPDATE 6:03 a.m. | Three people are in custody after a shooting Saturday night in northwest Peoria that left one person dead. Police say it stemmed from a botched robbery.
The victim was dropped off at the hospital in a black SUV. Police determined that same vehicle had been involved in a drug deal arranged in the 4200 block of West Hollow Creek around 10 p.m.
The men in the SUV attempted to rob the other party, who then shot at the SUV striking the victim, said police. He died at the hospital.
Police arrested Austin Thomason, 20, as the shooter. Braydon Bunting, 20, and Jajuan Otto, 19, also are charged with first-degree murder under the state's felony murder rule. That's because they were in the SUV committing a crime that could reasonably result in someone's death.
The victim's identify has not been revealed, pending an autopsy by the Peoria County Coroner's office. The incident remains under investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY | A man is dead after a shooting in a northwest Peoria apartment parking lot.
Peoria police officers responded just before 10 p.m. Saturday to the Hollow Creek Apartments for a shots fired call.
The man suffered at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to the hospital via private vehicle and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Police said they found the scene of the crime in the parking lot.
There's no suspect information at this time. The Peoria County Coroner's Office will release more information following an autopsy.
