An armed-and-dangerous suspect in a string of vehicle thefts was captured Sunday near Minonk, after eluding authorities for several days.

Multiple law enforcement agencies in McLean and Woodford counties were looking for Todd Kelly Jr., 36, of Gridley. He and his girlfriend, Alyssa J. Thrasher, 21, were "suspects in numerous open investigations involving a string of motor vehicle thefts within the last week," McLean County prosecutors said Saturday.

They were spotted Thursday in Bloomington and rural Danvers, in a vehicle stolen in Peoria. Thrasher was arrested Friday, when police swarmed a hotel in LeRoy. Kelly eluded capture, and authorities warned people not to approach him.

Kelly was spotted in rural Secor and El Paso, in Woodford County, earlier Sunday. He led police on a high-speed pursuit. Officers disabled his stolen vehicle and apprehended Kelly at gunpoint south of Minonk on Interstate 39, the El Paso Police Department said on Facebook. All officers are safe and no injuries were sustained.

Thrasher was charged Saturday with possession of a stolen vehicle, criminal trespass, and residential burglary, according to documents provided by McLean County prosecutors.
