McLean County health officials report 38 new confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, as the county’s testing positivity rate broke 4% for the first time since early February.
The new cases were found in a batch of about 1,500 test results returned overnight, according to data from the McLean County Health Department (MCHD). The testing positivity rate is now 4.2% -- an increase of 0.3%.
The number of county residents hospitalized with COVID-19 held at 24. Hospital capacity also held steady. Fewer than one in five Bloomington-Normal hospital beds is currently open. Intensive care bed use is at 65%.
Another 286 county residents are isolating at home, while an additional 17 people are now considered recovered.
The total COVID caseload since the start of the pandemic rose to 15,164. The cumulative testing positivity rate is 5.7%.
