McLean County health officials report 77 more confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, as the county’s testing positivity rate decreased for the first time in two weeks.
The positivity rate dipped just one-tenth of a percentage point, down to 5.3%. The new cases were found in a batch of about 1,600 test results returned overnight.
One additional McLean County resident is hospitalized with COVID-19, bringing the total to 31 hospitalized patients. Due to a technical issue, the McLean County Health Department could not confirm Thursday’s hospital bed capacity.
To date, 15,622 COVID cases have been found in McLean County. The death toll stands at 207.
Just over 73,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in McLean County, according to MCHD data. That’s up about 1,700 doses in the past 24 hours.
Data from the Illinois Department of Public Health indicate 24,510 county residents are fully vaccinated. That’s just over 14% of the population. Meanwhile, the state average is 17%.
Region 2, which includes McLean County, continues to meet Phase 4 mitigation guidelines on testing positivity rate and hospital bed capacity. However, the region is missing the target for hospitalizations, with nine days of increases in the number of COVID hospital patients.
