Three additional detainees at the Peoria County Jail have tested positive for COVID-19.
Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell said the new cases popped up during retesting of the 194 detainees who tested negative during the first round of COVID-19 testing.
The new positives bring the total number of cases at the jail to 37. Another 76 detainees tested negative on the retests, and 115 tests are still outstanding.
No additional employees have tested positive.
The jail remains on lockdown. Visits are suspended through Aug. 10.
