UPDATED 8:35 a.m. | The 53-year-old suspect in the Christmas Day triple homicide in Livingston County is set to make his first court appearance Friday morning.

Clifford Brewer is being charged with murder.

Clifford W. Brewer, a corrections officer from Cullom, is charged with six counts of first-degree murder. He's accused of fatally shooting his wife, Shirley Brewer, 48; his son Christian Brewer, 27; and another man, Norman Walker, 51.

"The pending investigation (indicates) that this is an isolated incident and it is believed that there is no immediate threat or danger to the safety of the community," Livingston County Sheriff Tony Childress said in a statement.

The three bodies were found early Wednesday at Brewer's residence at 416 E. Jackson St. in Cullom, a village of just over 500 located around 60 miles northeast of Bloomington-Normal.

Cullom Mayor Barbara Hahn acknowledged the triple homicide Wednesday on Twitter. (Her account has since been deleted or hidden from public view.)

"Our first responders and families involved sure could use some prayers of comfort. God knows who needs the help," Hahn wrote. "It can happen anywhere!"

Relatives announced a GoFundMe fundraising effort to help cover funeral expenses for Shirley and Christian Brewer.

Clifford Brewer is a correctional officer with the Illinois Department of Corrections, where he has worked since 2001. When asked about Brewer's current employment status since his arrest, an IDOC spokesperson declined to comment.

Brewer was being held at the Livingston County jail, Illinois State Police said in a statement Thursday. He'll make his first court appearance at 9 a.m. Friday in Pontiac.

State Police say the investigation is ongoing.
